June 14th - June 28th 2009

Well, we have been a little busy lately.. Summer is in full swing and it is HOT! Most days the temperature hits somewhere between 100 and 110 degrees, sometimes feeling even hotter! Rory went to see her doctor on Friday the 26th for a well child visit, and everything is fine. She had to get a shot, but she was a champ about it. She has finally said "mama" but only a handful of times. That is enough for me!

She wants to talk so badly it's like she knows what she wants to say, the words just won't come out. "Words" sounding like "dat dat dat", shh, sth, etc. She is also pointing to things that she wants.

On another note, the Grigsby side of our family has been dealing with a lot of sadness lately. We have been to two funerals within 3 weeks. The first was Jessica's uncle Tad (my aunt Denny's husband) who passed away suddenly on May 31st, and the second was Jessica's great grandma Ann (my grandma Pat's mother) who passed away on Father's Day at the age of 96.  They will both be greatly missed. 

RIP Uncle Tad.

In world news, stars like Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and Billy Mays have died all within days of each other. This has been a rough year for many, many people and our prayers go out to them.

9 MONTHS!!

May 22nd - June 13th 2009

Big news!!

Rory is 8 monhs old and crawling now! She is everywhere! Being that she is crawling, she has started "cruising", pulling up onto things and walking around them. Four days ago, Casey and I caught her standing for about 2 seconds without holding onto anything! She also has her two front bottom teeth and now her two upper front teeth are coming in and are poking out! She wants to teeth on anything and everything, including her crib. Despite all the efforts I have made to make sure that doesn't happen..

We also got her blood work back for the celiac test, which turned out negative, thank goodness! I had been doing a lot of research online and have since discovered that she has "Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome" or FPIES for short. FPIES is a disease of infants and young children that mimics food allergies. It's a long name but it basically, it means Rory can't tolerate Rice Cereal which is what triggers the allergy for her. And the good news is, unlike Celiac, most children are able to tolerate the "trigger foods" by age 3. We have been able to feed her crackers and fruits and veggies without incident, which is amazing! Rory thinks she is a big girl/grown up and doesn't like taking bottles or baby foods, she wants to drink out of regular glasses and eat the same foods everyone else is eating. She is already growing up so fast, I don't know what I'm going to do!

Being that it is summer, almost, we attempted to take her swimming.

This was her first time swimming. It was pretty cold so we didn't stay long.

The next day was a different story..

I went swimming at my aunt Robyn's with my cousin Elzee and his mom Darcy.

I just kicked my legs and tried to swim all over the place!

I had so much fun at the pool!
